Thanks so much for visiting TRV, Thrifty Rebel Vintage. I’m Tuula, and I’m so happy you’re here.
I love a great bargain and the adventure of hunting for potential treasures, and I’m passionate about repurposing, reusing, and upcycling. Saving money and helping the planet at the same time is a win-win.
My favourite places to hang out and shop at are thrift stores, garage sales, flea markets, and auctions.
I started TRV in July 2012 to share both my love of thrifting as an adult (I have been accused of being one on occasion), and of DIY, decorating, and crafting, but now with the fearlessness that I had with my crayons as a child.
Do you remember the joyous creative freedom you felt when colouring as a child? That wonderful feeling of self expression… with no worry about rules.
Well, that’s what TRV is all about. Decorating the way we want to. Not the way that anyone else tells us we’re supposed to, and not the way that’s trendy and hot at any particular moment, but the way that makes our homes a reflection of ourselves and our own families and lifestyles… and doing it in a budget-friendly way.
Where I live in Southern Ontario, Canada, with my hubby John and 4 feline friends, we get 4-5 cold months of winter a year, and that’s a lot of the white stuff. I want to decorate my home as if it’s summer all year round, hopefully making it feel warm and cozy when it’s cold outside. I want every single room to make me smile.
Here are some of TRV’s most popular projects.
I’ve always loved to decorate with colour, and I’ve been repurposing, upcycling, and DIYing it for years. I’ve learned a lot along the way, but I’m still learning… always. After all, isn’t life just one big DIY project? We learn as we go and we do the best we can. Life’s too short to worry about perfection.
I hope I can inspire you to create a home that smiles by repurposing, reusing, & rethinking.
If you have any questions or comments I’d love to hear from you.
Be nice to yourself, and laugh out loud every day!! It’s so-o-o good for the soul.
Thanks so much for reading, and until next time…
keep on keepin’ on!
