Happy Thrifty Tuesday friends!
The thrift stores in my wintry neck of the thrifting woods were closed between Christmas and New Year’s so I’m suffering from a bit of thrifting withdrawal, bit I did find a few cool things the week before Christmas
Like this vintage Hedman check protector. It has a lot number on the side which leads me to believe that it was sold at an auction at some point.
I found it at my local thrift store and there was a ‘Does Not Work” sign on it, but for $5 I didn’t care.
The lovely coloured numbers spoke to me and I had to bring it home.
I can think of many ways to repurpose them, but for now this very heavy conversation piece is being used as a very effective door stop.
I made some vintage cookie press disk ornaments recently, and then I found another whole set including the original recipe booklet.
These two rolling pins with lovely red handles were just $1 each.
This vintage Universal juicer sold shortly after I listed it in my Etsy shop. This is a much larger version than the ones I usually find and sell, but they all sell quickly for me.
This sweet little ornament box caught my eye, and truth be told I would have bought the box because of the lovely colours and graphics even if it was empty.
But it wasn’t. 🙂
I don’t often see sets of vintage ornaments in their original box that are all the same, so this was a lucky find… especially for 50 cents.
I’ve been collecting mini ornaments for a while now, and I just know that one day I’ll find the perfect vintage feather tree for them.
The vintage plastic Christmas candles sure do bring back memories. Way back in the 80s I had one in every window of our first house. I sold mine years ago because I started doing lights instead, but I still see these being used in windows today. These are available here and here.
And last but not least this pair of $1 ceramic Christmas candle huggers had to come home with me.
Aren’t they sweet?
Thanks so much for reading and until next time…
keep on keepin’ on!
