Happy Thrifty Tuesday friends!
Have you ever found something that you thought might really be something only to find out that it’s not the something that you thought it might be?
It happens to every thrifter from time to time I’m sure, and it happened to me this past week.
I found this set of large and heavy pewter kitchen utensils and I loved the look of them.
They were bound together with elastics in the 25 cent gadget bin, and for that almost free price it would have been crazy not to bring them home.
Am I right or am I right?
When I got home I saw that they were marked Pewtarex, and on one of them you can also see the mark York, PA.
Research online was quite easy and even though these are very nice pieces… they are reproductions made by a company in, you guessed it, York, Pennsylvania.
The only piece I could find on the company web site was the middle ladle thingy, and it was priced at $14 U.S. I imagine the other 2 pieces would retail around there too. So even though they weren’t what I was hoping for I did do quite well for my 25 cent investment.
This $1 brass cat trivet is quite heavy, and will be a keeper for a while.
I really loved the look of this twig wooden box.
It’s quite tall at about 14″ and looks quite aged, but I suspect it’s not quite as old as it looks.
But I do love it anyway.
The thrift stores in my area seem to be winding down their Christmas stuff, but I did manage to find a few cool things.
Like this pair of 10″ tall Christmas carollers.
I have a stash of small and miniature glass Christmas tree ornaments to use in projects like tart tin ornaments and jello mold ornaments… and whatever I might think of in the future.
I love the long necks on the tiny ones.
Love these miniature glass bell ornaments. They’re only about an inch tall including the plastic caps.
I think I’m going to be on the look out for a vintage feather tree for all my mini ornaments. Maybe I’ll get lucky and find one for next year.
Thanks so much for reading and until next time…
keep on keepin’ on!
