Happy Friday friends and welcome to another edition of What the Heck Is It?
Last week’s mystery items were very interesting, and you guys had a lot of ideas about what they were.
I was wondering if these tongs were for some specific task and there were many suggestions… such as ice, salad, removing corn on the cob or other veggies or even canning lids from boiling water. A friend of mine suggested they might be spaghetti tongs.
I think they can be used for all those things.
Mary commented that there should be a Popeil mark on them, and they are so aged that I couldn’t see it, but after some cleaning it is there.
There were a lot of ideas for these very small aluminum circles too… like mini disposable ash trays, child’s play or doll house pans, canning jar lids, candle wax protectors, and milk botttle tops.
Again, these can probably be used for many of the above, but it turns out that they’re probably milk bottle top blanks before they get stamped with the company name or logo. My blogging friend Donna sells them in her booth sometimes.
Thanks so much for all of your for your fabulous suggestions. I’m really enjoying reading all the great comments every week.
Now onto this week’s mystery item.
By now you guys know that I can’t resist a kitchen gadget. Especially if I have no clue what it is, which seems to be more often than not. lol.
Check it out.
It’s a real 100% genuine $1 whatchamacallit. I usually get my gadgets for 25 cents, but I splurged on this one because I was so intrigued by it.
Even the lady at the thrift store counter was curious about what it was, and asked me to let her know if I find out.
The metal arms are marked Made in Italy, and there are a bunch of numbers too.
The hard green plastic that covers the metal arms is permanent, and is marked INART on both arms.
It measures about 6″ high and is quite heavy. With a lot of strength I can pull the green arms down so the that centre circular part in the middle also comes down.
I couldn’t hold both arms down and take a picture at the same time, and if I left it the arms would move right back up again. Where’s that third arm when I need one. lol.
So what the heck is it? Any thoughts that I can share with the thrift store lady? 🙂
Thanks so much for reading and until next time…
keep on keepin’ on!
