Happy Friday friends, and welcome to another edition of What the Heck Is It?
There were a lot of great suggestions last week about what this item could be…
and it turns out that it’s a tray lifter to help remove hot trays from an oven or toaster oven.
I didn’t have a proper oven tray, but you can see how it works using one of my silver trays.
I had no idea what it was, but I guess a few of you had seen one before.
Thanks to all of you who joined in with your suggestions.
This week’s mystery item comes from a blogging buddy, AnnMarie from Musings of a Vintage Junkie.
I’m hoping you guys will help her out with whatever ideas you have about what this fabulous thing could be. It’s a very interesting and beautifully aged piece.
The leather on the outside is sewed together and then nailed on.
It measures 12 1/2″ long x 3 1/4″ tall x 4 1/2″ deep.
The inside bottom is wood and the inside sides are lined with a heavy cardboard lined in red fabric.
There are leather tabs on each end…
…and two on the bottom.
The dark spots on the leather, especially on the bottom, look burnt on.
It’s a weighty box and the leather is very distressed.
What the heck is it? Any ideas?
Thanks so much for reading and until next time…
keep on keepin’ on!
