I just love this time of year! The thrift stores here are filled with Christmas goodies, and it’s always fun looking through it all to find some vintage treasures.
I donated 3 large boxes of newer Christmas stuff last week so now I have room for new old Christmas treasures. The goal is to go totally vintage… except lights of course. I do like to be safe.
These vintage faux sugared or beaded fruit ornaments havelovely ribbon hangers. There are 4 apples and 7 pears… all for $1. Too bad there aren’t any pink ones. lol.
A few of them have some bare spots, but that’s great because I don’t have to feel guilty about using them in a project.
These vintage Jasco L’il Chimers are so cute. They’re made of bisque and have bells inside.
Back in the days when real candles were put on Christmas trees they must have used vintage metal candle clips similar to these, which were made in West Germany. Talk about your safety hazards.
But these would be awesome with small faux candles.
When I first saw this vintage trio I thought they were plastic, but upon closer inspection I realized that they’re actually paper mache.
Did you used to hang your Christmas stockings on plastic hangers like these?
I had some similar snowmen ones back in the 70s with the scarf coming way down as the hanger.
This vintage carolling family of dolls is singing their hearts out. I love the hand muffs!
Vintage wooden ornaments are always so fun, with their naive hand painted faces.
I can’t resist vintage hand blown glass ornaments, especially indented ones. They’re so pretty.
You can tell they’re hand blown by the nibs at the bottoms where the glass was cut.
This lot of glass ornaments with silver caps marked Poland are also hand blown. By their wear and aging you can tell they’ve seen a lot of Christmasses.
I tend to sell the old ornaments that are in great condition and keep the ones like this for myself. There’s just something about the history of well used ornaments that makes me love them.
What about you?
I’ll be keeping a few of these treasures and the rest will be put into the Vintage Christmas section of my etsy shop, some of today’s treasures are already there.
Thanks so much for reading and until next time…
keep on keepin’ on!
