Don’t you just love freebies?
Every once in a while I get a little extra lucky when a friend or family member has some fabulous freebies for me.
So was the case last week, when I was asked if I had any interest in a couple of items that were headed for unknown pastures.
Check it out!
What’s not to love? 🙂
This fabulous large curlicue basket is quite heavy and quite amazing, and the handle is removable.
It’s hard to tell from the picture how large it is. It’s over 2 feet across at the top.
Some of the curlicues are a little bent out of shape, but that’s an easy fix.
I’m not sure what its original purpose was but it would make a fabulous planter…. don’t you think?
And check out this fun cupcake holder. Isn’t it sweet?
It has a lazy suzan base and holds 18 cupcakes.
Since I’m not a cupcake maker or eater I have a repurposing project in mind for this, but the weather has to warm up first so I can spray paint outside.
It’s coming… I can feel it. 🙂
So what can match those two fabulous freebies?
Old and antique books. I have a weakness for them.
The 5 in the pic about were $1 each and the top 4 are all dated from the 1940s.
The Life of Dwight L. Moody, which was written by his son William Moody, is dated 1900.
The top book, The Adventures of Danny Meadow Mouse, has a lovely inscription that literally made me bring this book home.
The inscription is dated 1957, but the book pub date is 1943. I find it interesting that Nancy gave this book to Patty Sue 14 years after it was published. She dated it January 22nd so it must have been Patty Sue’s birthday.
So Miss Nancy was either a thrifter or a regifter.
Either way, it’s a sweet book and I love it!
I’ve decided my Finds of the Week, which haven’t been weekly for a while now, needed a new name so from now on it will be called Funtabulous Finds.
Funtabulous is a combo of fun, fantastic, and fabulous… and that describes perfectly the treasures I hope to find this coming garage sale season. I’ll be rotating FF on Thursdays with What the Heck Is It?
I can’t wait until garage sale season starts, but here it’s still about a month away… although we do see a few in April. I’m on a quest to find some cool things for What the Heck posts. 🙂
Thanks so much for reading and until next time…
keep on keepin’ on!
