Happy Friday friends!
I’m happy to report that I accomplished 4 1/4 of my Specific January Goals. What’s up with 1/4? Well, you’ll see in a minute. Even though I didn’t quite make it to 5 I do think this monthly goal setting thing is really going to work for me.
Breaking it down into smaller time frames seems to help keep me focused.
I painted my kitchen cupboards happy, as well as the trim and doors. The walls and ceiling also got painted a lovely creamy white, which you’ll see in the final reveal.
I wrote Stillness, a new poem and I shared it here on the blog.
My living room china cabinet got a very hot pink makeover, which I’ve been wanting to do for a long time.
I just finished filling it with my silver treasures, which I’ll share next week.
I made a new cream soup recipe that Julia from Vintage With Laces recommended. It’s potato and corn chowder with ham. Julia was so right. It’s delicious! Thanks Julia! I’ll definitely be making this again and again.
If you want to try it you can find the recipe here.
And yes that’s me attempting to make a snow angel. It was a beautiful sunny day, but my it was cold.
It’s really hard getting up from making a snow angel without messing it all up.
Especially when you’re dressed up tight in your snowsuit like Ralphie’s little brother in A Christmas Story, and you’re not as young as you used to be. lol.
So this is where the 1/4 comes in.
I have to admit that I only made one snow angel over the whole month of January, and I was supposed to make one each week. Oh well, the important thing is I made one and I had fun. I was just too busy having fun painting inside. 🙂
One thing that I love about setting goals is that there’s something so satisfying about checking them off as you get them done.
How did you do with your goals? I hope you were able to accomplish all that you wanted to.
Now on to February, in no particular order.
My 5 Specific Goals for February 2017
Give my kitchen counter tops a makeover.
My faux marble laminate kitchen counter tops are looking really dated these days. Oh, who am I kidding? They’ve been looking really dated for years. lol.
New counter tops aren’t in the budget right now so a makeover it is.
I already know what I’m going to do, and I’m very excited about getting it done and sharing it with you.
Give the kitchen back splash a makeover.
I loved the tile kitchen back splash when the cupboards were sage green, but now… not so much.
John and I DIY’d the back splash ourselves about 10 years ago, and I really don’t want the mess of removing it and starting again so it’s getting a makeover too.
I have a few ideas that I’m toying with, but I’m waiting until I’ve done the counter tops before finally deciding. I want to make sure that what I envision in my mind is what the counters actually look like when I’m done.
99% of the time all is ok, but every once in a while things don’t turn out the way I saw them in my brain.
Here’s the back splash and counter with the newly painted aqua cupboards. Both definitely need a new look to tie in better, but I knew that going into this makeover so it’s not unexpected.
I’ll be donating that ceramic canister set. I have a repurposing idea for new storage in this area.
Write another Poem and Share it here on the blog
You all were so wonderful about my sharing a poem in January, that I’ve decided to go for it again in February. There’s a specific one I’ve been working on one for a few weeks now and my goal will be to get it done in February. I just want to say thanks so much for all the kind works for Stillness. I really appreciate the encouragement. You guys make it easier for this introvert to put herself out there.
Repurpose this Wooden Filing Cabinet
I just found this piece at the ReStore yesterday for $10. It’s perfect for the end of the cabinet area in the kitchen. We used to have a little half moon table here, which was rather useless. We donated it a few weeks ago to the same ReStore where I found this.
It’s most definitely getting a makeover.
Give the Kitchen China Cabinet a Makeover
Now that all the cupbaords are Enchanting Evening blue, and I’ve packed away all my Old Country Roses China it’s time for this baby to have a new look.
Before painting I have to decide what my new china pattern will be, and then I have to start collecting it like yesterday. The colour of the china will be the deciding factor in what colours I’ll use for my china cabinet.
I think I might have to make a trip to the larger thrift stores and see what I can come up with. I’d love to find some red transferware. That would be awesome! I’ve already started looking, but haven’t found anything yet.
So there are my 5 specific goals for February 2017. It looks like I’m in for another month of makeovers, and I’m so excited to get started with them. I have to say that I’m really having a blast this winter, and I think this goal setting thing is a big part of that. I’m loving it! 🙂
Do you have any specific goals for February? If you want to play along just write your own list in a comment or just for yourself, and we’ll see how we did at the end of the month.
Wish me luck! And if you’re joining in I wish you luck too!
Thanks so much for reading and until next time…
