So I’m finally coming into the home stretch of my craft room reorganization journey. Yay!
I’ve got a couple of finishing touches to put in place and I’ll be ready to share all the yucky befores and the yummy afters within the next week or so. Only about a month late. lol.
Oh well, better late than never.. right? 🙂
In the meantime I want to show you what I did with the shelving storage area above my desk.
Here it is when I shared it in January.
In all honesty I had already started cleaning up a bit before I thought of taking before pics for the blog… so it did look a little bit worse than this… but you get the idea.
Since I was totally loving my vintage muffin pan drawer organizers I decided to continue with the whole repurposed bakeware thing.
So I went to the greenhouse and retrieved some of my vintage bakeware collection to finally put it to use.
Here’s my new shelf area.
If you look back at the before you’ll see that I added four shelves. I found them at the restore and they’re different depths but I made them work.
There was a lot of wasted spaced between the shelves so adding new shelves at different heights gives me a lot of extra storage where before there was just empty space.
I used some dollar store chalkboard labels on most of the bakeware to help me remember where everything is. They’re easy to remove should I ever need to, and I love that if I change what’s in any of the pans I can very easily change the labels.
The silver tone garbage can and the vintage bread box on the top shelf are holding my collection of wine corks that will someday be used for a project… once I have enough.
I still had to write on a few labels when these pics were taken.
The fluted pans don’t have labels, but I pretty much know what’s in them… vintage costume pearl jewelry, vintage rhinestone jewelry, round metal bracelets, jewelry odds and ends, vintage light reflectors, elastics, and junk hardware bits and bobs.
The muffin pans are holding individual pieces that I think will be interesting to use for repurposing projects.
I haven’t gone through my whole jewelry stash yet so more will be added here as I do.
I’m storing things for packaging and shipping my etsy items as well and it really helps that everything has its place. It makes it so easy for me to put things away to keep my desk tidy.
This bakeware was just sitting in my greenhouse waiting to be used in someday projects and taking up space at the same time.
Now each repurposed piece is serving a practical purpose while also looking very cool as a whole… for me anyway. And now I’m storing these pieces out in the open so I can enjoy them every single day as well. It’s a win win. I love sitting at my desk now and just looking at them.
They make me happy. 🙂 I just love using repurposed bakeware any way I can.
So here’s the awful before again.
The more I look at it the worse it gets. lol.
But also… now that it’s behind me the better I feel when I look at the after.
That is where I was… and this is where I am now.
So I’m giving myself a big pat on the back… because we need to do that sometimes… when we accomplish something that makes us feel good. No matter how big or how small the accomplishment.
One thing I’ve gotten into the habit of doing every night before I leave this room is clean off my desk. It’s so wonderful to come in the next day with a clean area to sit at and work on… and that makes me feel good.
So I’m sure you’ve accomplished something lately. Something that makes you feel good.
I hope you gave yourself a big pat on the back too. If not… do it now. Better late than never. 🙂
Thanks so much for reading, and until next time… keep on keepin’ on.
