It’s very easy to change every day pillows for a new season or holiday by making a no sew pillow cover.
This one is quick to do and inexpensive too.
I found these two basic pillows for $1 each. They had zippered pillow covers which usually means a covered pillow form underneath rather than just stuffing.
I checked them out before buying just to make sure.
I seem to be on a scarf kick lately, but they’re so versatile and I can think of so many ways to use them.
For this project you’ll need a scarf that is knitted-in-the-round, which means you can put your hands inside it and stretch it out. I get mine at the thrift store for 50 cents or $1. They come in every colour under the sun, or if you’re a knitter you can make one yourself.
I’m using a beautiful bright red one for this Christmas pillow. It’s about five feet long.
All you have to do is stretch the scarf over the pillow.
Move it along so the pillow is in the middle with equal scarf arms on either side.
Don’t stretch it too much or the white pillow form will become visible through the scarf, but if that happens it’s easy to just fluff it up.
Grab some lace and/or some ribbon, whatever you like or have on hand, and wrap it around the back of the pillow, in the opposite direction that the scarf arms will go, and tie at the front.
Then tie the two scarf arms into a knot at the front. This hides the knotted lace and ribbon.
This makes the pillow reversible with a different look on each side.
With the other form I made a pillow for my antique settee.
I used the leftover piece of white scarf from my chenille remnant pillow.
That makes this pillow reversible too.
For a child’s room you could tuck in their favourite stuffed toy. For a bit of fun I added a little stuffed Rudolph to my Christmas pillow. What can I say? I’m just a little girl at heart. lol.
Isn’t he sweet? I couldn’t resist him at the thrift store for 10 cents. He fits perfectly, and he makes me smile.
This is such a quick and easy project, and the best thing is that the scarf pillow cover can easily be changed for a different season or holiday… or just because you need a change. Which I often do. Do you too?
